Cheapest Free Zone in the UAE: the 2026 Ranking

Every zone we cover, ranked by its published price — and what each headline hides. A neutral ranking: no zone pays us more than another.

In short

The lowest published price among the zones we compare is AED 5,500 (DIFC and UAQ FTZ) — but every "from" price hides its assumptions: most of the cheapest packages include zero visas, and some of the lowest numbers are subsidised licences with eligibility conditions. The cheapest published bundle that includes both a licence and a UAE residence visa among these zones is UAQ START at AED 12,500. The full ranking below shows each zone's advertised price and what it actually covers — government fees are always passed through at cost.

What the headline price hides

Usually zero visas

Most of the cheapest headlines are zero-visa licences. Add the cost of each residence visa (plus medical and Emirates ID) to reach a real budget.

Subsidised, with conditions

Some of the lowest numbers (innovation and tech start-up licences) are subsidised and gated by eligibility — not available to every activity.

The total lives in the quote

Extra activities, the facility and renewals move the total. Always compare a written, itemised quote — government fees are passed through at cost.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest free zone in the UAE in 2026?

By published prices, the floor is AED 5,500: DIFC (from / approx — DIFC Innovation Licence for non-regulated tech/fintech startups (~USD 1,500/yr, subsidised).); UAQ FTZ (from / published — UAQ LYTE package (zero-visa e-commerce licence, up to 3 activities, flexi-desk) at AED 5,500; the all-inclusive one-visa UAQ START package is a published AED 12,500; other licence types and facilities are quoted, and government and visa fees are added where applicable). Remember these are "from" prices — visa count, activities and facility drive the real total.

What is the cheapest free zone with a residence visa included?

Among the zones we compare, the cheapest published bundle covering both the licence and a UAE residence visa is UAQ FTZ's UAQ START at AED 12,500 — it also covers the medical test, Emirates ID, medical insurance, establishment card and a coworking lease.

Is the cheapest zone the right zone?

Not always. A headline price says nothing about activity fit, banking acceptance, mainland market access or visa limits. Use the 5-question selector or a side-by-side comparison before deciding — and above all, compare a written, itemised quote.

How do I verify these prices?

Every zone page on this site lists its official sources (the zone authority's own published pricing), and the full open dataset is downloadable as JSON and CSV under CC BY 4.0 with per-zone source URLs.
