Emirates ID Status Check, Renewal and Fees (2026): ICP's Own Rules

October 25, 2026readZETUP Team

How to check your Emirates ID application status on ICP's Application Tracking, what a new card, renewal or replacement costs on ICP's service cards, the AED 20/day late fine, the 24-hour urgent service, lost cards and what employers may not do.

The Emirates ID is issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), so its status, fees and fines all sit on ICP's systems. This guide is built from ICP's service cards and smart-services site and from u.ae, read on 25 October 2026.

How to check your Emirates ID status

Quick answer: use ICP's Application Tracking on its smart-services site. It searches by email: enter the email address used in the application and the request number, then search. You can also follow up in ICP's UAEICP app or on ICP's call centre — 600522222 inside the UAE, +971 600522222 from abroad.

ICP's smart-services menu also lists an ID Card Status service on its own website, and u.ae points applicants to ICP to "track your Emirates ID application".

How the new card reaches you

ICP's renewal service card says the new card is delivered through the authorised courier for the standard service, and collected from ICP's centres for the urgent service. People aged 15 and over complete fingerprints and signature at ICP's service centres when the service requires it.

Emirates ID fees on ICP's service cards

WhatFee (ICP)
New card or renewal — residentsAED 100 per year of residence + AED 100 smart-service fee
New card or renewal — UAE nationalsAED 100 (5-year card, under 21) or AED 200 (10-year card, 21 and over)
New card or renewal — GCC citizensAED 100 (5-year card) + AED 100 smart-service fee
Replacement for a lost or damaged cardAED 300 + AED 100 smart-service fee
Urgent service (ICP centres only; listed for UAE nationals, GCC citizens and replacements)+ AED 150

So a resident on a two-year visa pays AED 300 for the card (2 × AED 100 + AED 100). Sources: ICP's New Identity Card Issuance, Identity Card Renewal and Replacement for a lost or damaged ID card cards.

Emirates ID within 24 hours

u.ae says ICP's urgent 24-hour service is for UAE nationals and GCC nationals living in the UAE — for first registration, renewal of an expired card, or a lost or damaged card. Other residents can use it only to replace their card. It is obtained at ICP's customer happiness centres.

Emirates ID renewal

  • When: ICP allows renewal once the card has expired, or when less than one year (UAE nationals) or six months (everyone else) remains.
  • How: through ICP's smart services (website or the UAEICP app) or its customer happiness centres; ICP charges residents per year of residence.
  • Passport: ICP requires a passport valid for at least three months.
  • Late fine: AED 20 per day, capped at AED 1,000 (ICP); u.ae says the fee applies when the card is renewed more than one month after expiry.

Emirates ID fines

FineICP
Renewing after the permitted periodAED 20 per day, up to AED 1,000
Not reporting a change in personal or civil data within 30 daysAED 20 per day, up to AED 1,000
A foreign resident's child born in the UAE — fine counted from four months after the birthAED 20 per day, up to AED 1,000

The visa overstay fine is separate and paid to ICP's violation-fine service — see our GDRFA status and fine check guide.

Lost, damaged or changed details

  • Lost or stolen: u.ae says report the loss to ICP within 7 days, then apply for a replacement (AED 300 + AED 100 smart-service fee).
  • Changed details: report any change in your personal details to ICP within one month (u.ae); ICP fines late reporting at AED 20 a day, up to AED 1,000.
  • Cancellation: the Emirates ID is cancelled automatically when the residence visa is cancelled (u.ae) — see the visa cancellation guide.

For employers

u.ae is explicit: companies may not withhold the Emirates ID cards of their employees, customers or visitors; they may only take the personal data on the card. If you run a team, the practical job is the calendar — ICP charges residents per year of residence and the card is cancelled with the residence visa (u.ae), so plan ID renewals alongside visa renewals to avoid the AED 20-a-day late fine. For the work-permit side of the same file, see MOHRE enquiry services.
