No Objection Certificate (NOC)

Also known as: NOC, Letter of No Objection

Quick Answer

A No Objection Certificate is a formal letter from an employer, sponsor, or authority stating it does not object to a specific action — such as a worker taking a second job, a dependent working, or a person changing visa status.

A No Objection Certificate (NOC) is one of the most common documents in UAE administrative life. It is a written confirmation from the party whose permission matters — usually an employer or sponsor — that it has no objection to the holder doing something the authority needs reassurance about. Government departments frequently ask for an NOC before processing a transaction.

Typical uses include: an employee getting a part-time work permit (NOC from the main employer), a dependent applying for their own work permit (NOC from the sponsor), a tenant making property modifications (NOC from the landlord), a driver applying to add a vehicle class, or a resident processing certain visa or banking steps. The NOC must usually be on letterhead, signed and stamped, and sometimes attested.

Because an NOC's wording must match exactly what the receiving authority expects, a poorly drafted letter is a frequent cause of rejection and delay. ZETUP PRO drafts NOCs to the right specification for each transaction and, where the authority requires it, arranges attestation.
