Quick Answer
EmaraTax is the Federal Tax Authority's online portal where UAE companies register for VAT and corporate tax, file returns, pay liabilities, and manage their tax records.
EmaraTax replaced the older e-Services portal in late 2022 as the FTA's unified platform for all tax matters. Every taxable person — whether registered for VAT, corporate tax, or excise — files and pays through EmaraTax. It also stores TRN (tax-registration number) certificates, return history, and refund records.
Corporate tax filings are due 9 months after the financial-year end (so a company with a December year-end files by September 30 of the following year). VAT returns are typically quarterly. Late filings trigger AED 1,000 penalties; late payments accrue daily interest.
Most ZETUP PRO clients use a dedicated tax accountant or audit firm to prepare actual returns, but rely on PRO services for EmaraTax registration, TRN certificate retrieval, deadline tracking, and FTA-related document attestation.
